Bag notes

An evening camera bag: the PGYTECH OneGo Drawstring

Some nights call for a camera but not a camera bag. The OneGo Drawstring is the small leather-look bag I take out in the evening: a compact camera inside, my phone and keys in the side pockets, and nothing about it that says "camera".

Why it's in my kit

My everyday camera bags are made for long days on foot. In the evening I want something smaller that goes with what I'm wearing. The OneGo Drawstring is a soft, padded bucket bag with a drawstring top, and it looks like a small handbag.

Most nights I pack my Canon G7 X Mark III, which leaves plenty of room. When I want my best camera with me, my Leica Q3 fits too. Inside, side pockets hold my phone, a spare card, lip balm and keys, so I'm not digging around the camera to find them.

Who makes it

PGYTECH is a camera accessories brand best known for drone and action-camera gear, filters and camera bags. The OneGo range is its everyday and travel line, and the Drawstring bag is its smallest, softest piece.

What to know before you buy

It's padded, but lightly

The padding protects against everyday knocks, not a hard drop. That's fine for a compact on a night out; I wouldn't check it in luggage with a camera inside.

A drawstring isn't a zip

The top cinches closed but doesn't seal. Light rain is fine; in a downpour, keep it under your coat. In a crowded bar, keep it on your lap or in front of you.

The cord strap is thin

The shoulder strap is a cord, which suits the evening look but can dig in if the bag is heavy. With a compact inside, it's comfortable; with a heavier camera like a Leica Q3, carrying it by hand may suit you better for longer stretches.

It's a good fit if

  • You want a camera with you on nights out without carrying a camera bag.
  • You shoot with a compact like a G7 X or Ricoh GR, or a small mirrorless camera with one prime.
  • You'd like your phone, keys and lip balm in the same small bag as the camera.
  • You sometimes want a padded cube to drop inside a larger tote.
